Just a brief update on my travels…
I loved being in SoCal tremendously. The people were incredible, the food was fantastic and the landscape was beautiful.
There are people I must include a few words about.
Scott Babb, for his friendship and support – without whom we would not have had a Piper seminar in San Diego. Scott is kick-ass skillful and establishes himself as a powerful presence once he starts to move, so meeting the founder of Libre in person is an experience everyone will remember. He is an awesome guy, has a good heart and I am proud to have met him and call him a friend. Libre is going to go far, keep watching him closely. Libre rocks. Scott, you stand out from the crowd for the best of reasons, I’m glad we’re connected.
Sean – you are the man. Sean Muttaqi is a smart guy, a supportive advisor, sharp businessman, awesome dad and can rock you with his ability in Silat. If I weren’t so worn out from my schedule I would have loved to learn more than I did from both Sean and Scott. As it is, Sean provided a few highly pertinent insights into Piper and increased even my knowledge of its methodology and structure. I hope Sean will share more of his insights and knowledge with us.
Mushtaq Ali. A friend, mentor and one of the most fascinating men you will meet. I have not had the privilege of meeting him in person, however I will make it a priority on my next trip to do so. How do you thank someone who wants to help you succeed, who has shaped and guided you in small yet vital ways? Mushtaq has shared his knowledge and wisdom with us over a long period, and I am grateful for knowing him. Hopefully soon the Traceless Warrior will become for me the Temporarily Located Warrior
Finally, Marc Denny. Marc is a gentleman warrior, the thinking man’s martial artist. He is everything I thought he would be and more. Since we were kids we looked up to certain individuals who had a name in the Martial Arts, and meeting Marc has been humbling in many ways. He gave me much to emulate – I have growth and development work ahead to get where I need to be. Marc is SKILLED as a combat engineer, both his knowledge and ability to execute are first class. He knows what he is talking about and has earned my respect and admiration in even greater measure. I was floored during my time with Marc – both literally and figuratively
I had an incredibly good time with a guy who describes himself as just an old man having a good time. I believe him when he says he’s having a good time, but don’t be fooled by the “old”. The shape he’s in puts me to shame, and he can kick ass better than a lot of guys half his age, with half the effort.
You gotta feel it to believe it.
I will post more on this as events develop. However my time with Marc was fruitful for both of us, so keep watching this space. At some point I believe Marc will put forward a few of his own words on the experience.
The Dog Brothers reputation is well deserved, and the Crafty Dog has clearly deserved his leadership role in the pack.
As for the Piper System seminar, it was a kick-ass event.
I’ll fill in more later. But to the new friends I’ve made I look forward to meeting you all again and getting variously prodded, stabbed, caned, thrown, poked, beaten and bludgeoned. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
As Marc says, The Adventure continues…
